ASTRONOMICAL S.T.E.A.M.

All youth in the Mid-States Region are invited to participate in upcoming conventions via speaking, activities, and sessions all geared around S.T.E.A.M.  Because not all students are ardent imagers, or night sky surveyors, it is important to make astronomy accessible on many levels.

The goal is to host sessions for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math at the annual Mid-States Conventions.  The ages best suited, but not limited to would be Middle School to High School.   There is lots to consider when embarking on such a feat, so we are thoroughly reviewing every and all options and potentialities.

Main considerations are for:
Youth to pursue the Astronomical League Observing Programs
To take advantage of the National Youth Award Program
To assist with youth outreach and civic involvement
To network the five states through regular Zoom interactions
Spark partnerships on projects
Host live observing sessions together
To include youth that is other abled in all our functions and plans.

So stay tuned and contact your club president as they will be working with us on this endeavor.  If you are a school club in the area and not affiliated with the Astronomical League, you are welcomed to join us.

If you are a youth or college student that would like to assist in the planning of this project please contact the Chair Rick Heschmeyer EMAIL:  rickheschmeyer@gmail.com
